Rivendell

Here lives Elrond the Halfelven, wielder of one of the Rings of Power, and the elves of household, along with beings of other races which serve the light. Here the Council of Elrond met to choose the Company to go with the Ring-bearer. Here, above all, are stories told and ballads sung of the elves in days of yore. And here are all riddles answered:

Rivendell (Ted Naismith)

'Three rings for the elven kings under the sky
Seven for the dwarves in their halls of stone
Nine for mortal men doomed to die
One for the dark Lord on his dark throne
One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them
One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor, where the shadows lie.'

Old Bilbo sits by the window in Rivendell

Seek for the sword that was broken:
In Imladris it dwells;
There shall be counsels taken
Stronger than Morgul-spells.
There shall be shown a token
That Doom is near at hand,
For Isildur's Bane shall waken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be sword that was broken,
The crownless again shall be King.
